A Closer Look at the Owl Vision Rugged Briefcase Controller

A contractor-tough, purpose-built control center designed to get the most out of the Owl Vision 360° HD Manhole Camera and your POSM inspection software.

The rugged briefcase controller adds serious flexibility and value to every Owl Vision bundle.

Built for POSM — Ready for Your Workflow

Every briefcase ships preloaded with POSM Manhole, our purpose-built application for the Owl Vision 360° HD Manhole Camera. Out of the box, operators can easily access all the most important features of the camera, review inspections, and capture NASSCO MACP data.

The onboard Windows computer is also compatible with other POSM applications, including POSM Lite and POSM Pro. That means the same briefcase can be used to control crawlers or push cameras for mainline and lateral inspections, making it a versatile controller for your entire inspection fleet.

Customers can use the briefcase to control a push camera for lateral inspections, all from the same rugged controller.

Proven in the Field

“Battle tested” in extreme conditions

The briefcase controller was designed from day one to live in the field, not a lab. During development, the system was run continuously in summer heat for multiple days to expose thermal issues. The final design includes additional cooling and airflow so the computer runs reliably on hot jobsites.

It has also been used in freezing temperatures and in snow-covered environments, giving crews confidence that their control system will power up in virtually any weather they face.

The Owl Vision manhole camera and briefcase controller are built to be “contractor tough.”

Flexible Connections for Today's Inspection Trucks

Every utility and contractor has a slightly different setup. That's why the briefcase offers a rich set of ports and can be customized to match your equipment mix.

A typical configuration includes:

  • External USB 3.0 for easy data transfer and accessories
  • 12 VDC power input and 110 VAC power input
  • Optional analog video and distance counter input
  • 26-pin military-style connector for the Owl Vision manhole camera and poles

Our sales team can help you spec the right combination of computer and video inputs so the briefcase becomes the hub for all of your inspection tools.

Sunlight-Readable Display

Reading a screen in full sun is one of the toughest challenges on a jobsite. Rather than relying on bulky canopies or makeshift shades, we chose a military-grade, high-brightness monitor that stays readable even in direct sunlight.

Operators report being able to clearly see the image from more than 30 feet away, even on bright days.

Power Options That Match Your Fleet

The briefcase can be powered from a standard 110 VAC outlet or directly from a vehicle battery using 12 VDC input. Whether you are in the truck, at a job trailer, or on a temporary power drop, the controller is ready to work.

Designed and Assembled in the USA

Whenever possible, the Owl Vision camera system and briefcase use components from U.S.-based companies, and final assembly is performed in our Midwest facility.

The hardshell enclosure itself is built by Pelican, a trusted case manufacturer that has been serving demanding industries for decades.

Service-Friendly, Plug-and-Play Design

Every component inside the camera and briefcase is plug-and-play—no soldering or specialty tools required. If you ever need replacement parts, POSM Tech Support can ship components and walk your team through simple field repairs.
